MEMORIAL MUSEUM “CONSTANTIN AND ION STERE”

Constantin Stere was a politician, scholar and writer with origins in the Republic of Moldova. He was a militant of the Union of 1918, also known as the “Great Apostle of the Union”. He was a revolutionary by nature and was imprisoned for political reasons in several prisons and even deported to Siberia. Furthermore, he settled in Romania, in Iasi, in 1892, and in 1918 he married Aneta Radovici, with whom they had two sons, Ion and Silvia Stere.

The “Constantin and Ion Stere” Memorial Museum was set up in the former family mansion, where the writer Constantin Stere retired. He spent the last 6 years of his life on the Bucov estate, which belonged to his wife. The spiritual and domestic world of the Stere family is thus reconstructed and the family’s personal belongings can be seen: books, registers, photographs, postcards, icons and trinkets. The ground floor houses the reception hall, drawing room, dining room and stairwell, and on the first floor the large bedroom and daughter’s bedroom, study and library can be seen.
