“FRANCISC RAINER” MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY

The great scholar Francisc Rainer was the creator of the Romanian school of anthropology. He founded the Institute of Anthropology of the Romanian Academy in 1940. He used to come and spend time in his holiday home at Cheia, at the foot of the Ciucaș massif. The place was thus transformed into a museum, evoking the life, work and activity of the doctor.

The museum was established in 2007 and is dedicated to anthropology as the science of man. Therefore, there are biological aspects, related to the physical constitution, but also the cultural projection of man. Francisc Rainer understood anthropology as a discipline that connects the entire human universe. The museum also has an interactive character, through which visitors can learn about human psychology, biorhythms and physiognomy.
