SCHOOL MUSEUM OF BÂRSANA

The building that houses the School Museum in Bârsana was built at the beginning of the 19th century. From the moment it was erected, it was known that it would be a school. Its destination was a confessional school, as it belonged to the Greek-Catholic church. The museum consists of the classroom, where you can see the old furniture, but also other rooms that were used by the teachers, who also lived here. The first teacher who lived here was Nicolaus Fabian.

The school museum in Bârsana was restored and inaugurated as a museum on June 23, 2013, being preserved in-situ. The construction was made of wood, clay and stone, and the four-pitched roof was made of reed. In addition to the exhibited objects, visitors can find collections of objects and school inventory, documents related to the history of the village of Bârsana. The school museum is located in the courtyard of the school in Bârsana.
