“FLORI DE MINĂ” MUSEUM

The “Flori de Mină” Museum in Cheia was opened in 2002, with crystals as its protagonists. The museum houses pieces from the “Mihai Viteazul” collection of flowers of mines and introduces visitors to the underground world of minerals. The general public will get to know crystals and observe their properties, but also their influence on the human being at an energetic level.

The museum has 22 showcases housing 170 pieces in several categories. The minerals on display are from the Baia Mare basin, from the Baia Sprie, Baia de Arieș and Cavnic mines. Also present in the exhibition are geodes – the places where minerals are “born” – more precisely amethyst geodes and citrine geodes.
