‘Vatra cu dor’ Traditional Household

In 2006 Paul Buța, actor and folk artist, founded this place. His idea was to show the younger generations the ancestors’ lifestyle and to provide them an escape out of the day to day activities. ‘Vatra cu dor’ has a tiny house with two rooms, a kitchen and a sleeping room, but also two workshops – creating masks and weaving. In the yard there is a summer kitchen with a central traditional oven, the potter’s studio and the craftsman’s studio.

Apart from the exhibition, interactive workshops are also carried out in the household: weaving, pottery, creating masks from natural materials. Paul Buța teaches his guests traditional dances in his huge courtyard, explaining to them in detail the lifestyle people had decades ago and so, carrying on the local traditions.
