“MARIN PREDA” MEMORIAL CENTRE
A cultural center was opened in 2018 in the native village of writer Marin Preda, Siliștea Gumești. This space was inaugurated at the initiative of Dorel Petrescu, together with two other associates. The “Marin Preda” Cultural Center is housed in the school where Marin Preda studied while he lived in Siliștea Gumești. You can see archival images of the writer’s family, photos of the house where Marin Preda was born, as well as some evidence of the writer’s school activity.
The “Marin Preda” Memorial Center is divided into several rooms: a classroom with desks and chairs, where Marin Preda was a pupil, a village library, an ethnographic room, where many pieces from the Teleorman area are exhibited, and a room reflecting part of the activity of another fellow countryman, General Marin Dragnea.
