CĂLINEȘTI OAȘ VILLAGE HOUSE
The Călinești-Oaș village house is a typical house of the Oaş Country area from the 18th and 19th centuries. It was built in 1727 and is preserved in situ. The structure of the house is simple: a central awning, a pantry and a living room with a stove. The house has a cracked stone foundation, alongside an oak base and carved wooden posts, also of oak. The Călinești Oaș village house has a natural hay roof, and originally it was made of rye husks, a cereal that is no longer cultivated as it used to be.
The village house belonged to Mărcuț Iacob a lu Grigor, receiving it as an inheritance from his parents. He lived in the house until his death, and in 1991 it was bought by the Satu Mare County Museum. It underwent an extensive restoration process between 1995 and 1996. Currently, the supervisor of this museum is Ana Fedorca, the stepdaughter of Mărcuț Iacob, who knows the story of the house by heart and the objects inside: the food bowls, the pieces of clothing, the big chest, the horse tooth stove and others.
