THE MUSEUM OF FOLK ART AND TECHNIQUE “VÂNĂTORII MICI”
The Museum of Folk Art and Technique “Vânătorii Mici” from the village of Vânătorii Mici in Giurgiu County has a relatively recent history. It was founded in 2010 by Rozalia Iorga, an art teacher. It started from the personal initiative of the teacher, wanting to make a contribution to the locality. The space where the permanent exhibition is now held was previously a discotheque.
Both the teacher and the children from the schools where she teaches contributed to the space provided by the town hall. This way, the parents found out about the village museum initiative and donated. It’s a community museum, built largely by the children, who responded positively to Rozalia Iorga’s call. The exhibition houses items from the local household and pieces of clothing – such as one of the traditional blouses on display, created from pink silk. There are also objects needed for household work and even an old carpet, rescued from the rubbish heap.
