In June 2012, the collector Alexandru Grecu opened the doors of his collection to the visitors. The main theme is Ethnography, but one can also see Jewish wardrobes, cuckoo clocks, hand painted dowry coffers, old books, money from all over the world and paintings, papyri, a mammoth teeth that was found on the Siret river, tools and other household items.

The owner of the museum gathered these objects within 30 years and estimates he has over 2500 items. After his family name Grecu, the museum’s name took the variant ‘El Greco’ – referring to art, more specifically to the Spanish painter originated from Greece, El Greco.
