BUCOVINA SALT MUSEUM

Bucovina Salt Museum, set up within the Cacica Salt Mine, was inaugurated in August 2011. The museum is at a depth of 40 meters, being the only underground history and archaeology museum in Romania.

Apart from the museum, on the visiting path one can also see St. Varvara’s chapel, the sports hall, the subterranean artificial lake, the ballroom and the leisure hall. The tourist route has 500 m length, and up to the first underground objective there are 150 stairs to climb down. Cacica Salt Mine has been operating for more than 220 years. The underground temperature is 10o C.
