ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE MUSEUM OF CUCUTENI

Cucuteni Archaeological Reservation is at a 10 km distance from Târgu Frumos town. The main point of attraction of this area is a tumular Dacian tomb from the fourth century BC, preserved within the Archaeological Site Museum of Cucuteni. The archaeologist involved in research tried to keep in-situ the largest and best preserved tumulus.

Thus, in 1984, after two years of construction, the museum was inaugurated. The central tomb was integrated in a circular design, using natural stone, with no central pillars. The visiting trail is circular, at ground level as well as the upper level, through hanging platforms. On the two floors there is displayed a permanent exhibition which presents the local history — from paleolithic until the nineteenth century.
