‘IULIA HĂLĂUCESCU’ ART MUSEUM

Iulia Hălăucescu was a visual artist and painter illustrator, named by art critics ‘Lady of Romanian Watercolour’. She was born in Tarcău in 1924 and lived there for two years. The museum was inaugurated on 16 November 2003, at the initiative of a local counselor. The permanent exhibition has 123 paintings, mostly watercolour, only 5 of them being painted in oil. There are 149 ceramic items exhibited, old icons painted on wood, wood objects, vintage furniture and items from her creative studio.

Iulia Hălăucescu opened over 60 individual exhibitions, in Romania and abroad, and attended more than 30 exhibitions organised by the Ministry of Culture.
She travelled a lot with her husband and her work was mainly known abroad. She passed away on 18 December 2007.
