„Tudor Vladimirescu” Memorial House Vladimir

Located in the village of Vladimir, Gorj County, the Tudor Vladimirescu Memorial House is a remarkable example of traditional Romanian rural architecture, honoring the life and legacy of the leader of the 1821 Wallachian Revolution. Tudor Vladimirescu (c. 1780–1821), the son of a free peasant named Constantin “Ursu,” endured a childhood marked by hardship and the early loss of his father, being raised by his mother until 1812. From these humble beginnings, he rose to become a symbol of social justice and the struggle for Romanian emancipation, leaving a lasting impact on the nation’s history.

The memorial house was reconstructed based on historical photographs and documents, faithfully preserving the late 18th-century architectural style of the original home. It incorporates two authentic elements from the house where Tudor Vladimirescu was born and raised.
